I'm now on shave 6 with the Dovo Klang, with the DR Harris Arlington cream, the same hot towel/lather/hot towel/lather routine, have perfected the amount of water to use with the cream, and my stopping routine before and after every shave has remained the same. I'm happy to report that my shaves are improving with almost every shave (I have an occasional off day), but am much more comfortable with my technique and my set-up.

In the interest of changing only one thing at a time, I'm going to rotate to my R. Aust 5/8 and keep everything else the same.

    Feeling good about this "experiment"!

Biggest, best change-up for me was when I did away with the shave parade, hot shower, hot towels, pre-shave, work in lather with finger tips, then apply with brush, shave, rinse, hot towel, blah, blah, blah...caused me more grief and irritation than the wife and kids!!

Now, splash cold water on face, lather, two-pass shave, alum block (don't need it, but like it), done in around 10 minutes.

Now, once in awhile, the shave parade is fun...all this, in my own experience of course!!

    Enjoy!

I don't know Frank...I can't get over the feeling of my cold water shaves in the mirror of a Jeep, using a Steel Helmet as a sink!

You should be thankful you had a helmet and a Jeep, I used a puddle of cold, oily, dirty water and the mirror on my bicycle to shave, and I was darn thankful for it...up until they took the training wheels off...now I don't even have a mirror!
