Default Great last shave of 2013!

Well it's been 6 months since I started with SRs again (after 30 years) and I used my original Hoffritz 5/8, honed a few months ago by Lynn, and had a great shave. Because of my RAD. it had only been shaved with twice since I got it back, and my technique was worse then. Today, after a week with the Dovo Klang, I pulled it out, stropped it, and lathered up. Got a GREAT shave...not BBS, but better than I get with any DE or cartridge (which have been banished). I expect 2014 to be a year of great things on the shave front!!

    Happy New Year to everyone!

Mine was a 5/8 Gold Seal with all the gold wash gone. It now needs to be refreshed as it tugged a little thru the uber lather I usually use.

I am jealous. My SR is off getting honed so I am using my back up shavette. I might try my wife's new DE this weekend. Never used a DE myself before, might be interesting.

As predicted, shave #2 of 2014 was terrific. I think the key is perfecting the lather (still sticking with DR Harris Arlington shave cream), and proper stropping to help the razor recover from the last shave (again, my original 1970s to 80s Hoffritz 5/8...recently honed by Lynn, purchased on a whim in that era in a Hoffritz retail store). Did more skin stretching, more angles on my strokes and just had a fabulous shave. Thanks to everyone on SRP who has helped me along the way. Will continue to practice and perfect, but am very happy with progress. Will post pictures on my "shave den" soon.
