One of my hobbies is bird watching. I never stop getting a kick out of photographs of those same turn-of-the-century guys, up to mid-thigh in the goo of some sweltering swamp or bog, binoculars in hand, wearing those suits and collars.
    Keep your pivot dry!

Haha I started to change that after the first comment but figured everyone was getting a kick outta it so I'd leave it for the fun! Gotta be able to laugh at yourself right?

Well as promised. I just got home and looked at it under my 30x loupe. There are a few places on it that I can't tell if I saw a problem or if I was just seeing normal stuff. I am going to try the 200/100 stropping and try a shave tomorrow morning and see how it goes. But I am excited that I didn't see any obvious flaws!!!! Being my first razor and not knowing how certain things look on the edge when correct vs incorrect I'm not sure.

I'd like to find someone somewhat close to go sit down with and learn from but haven't been able to find anyone close from looking on here. I might not be looking in the right place though.

    Anyways I'll report tomorrow.

When I first read this, I thought it said, "something just fell off"! I may never recover.

Seriously, I'd call that a success story, several times over: you made all the right decisions and lived to tell the tale. Stropping is all about muscle memory, and until that develops, things are chancy. Some of the guys recommend practicing with a butter knife until the fingers get the flipping motion down pat and automatic.
Dang, now I feel badly. In redneck speak "felt" is past tense of "fell". I was in suspense.

    Regards

    Chasmo
