That's great. This is exactly what would give me what I want. Been looking at them. Are they made out of ceramic? Probably different materials at very different prices along with the looks of them. I've seen some really nice looking scuttles. I don't need anything fancy, just functional.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Some of the scuttles I've found have holes in the upper bowl. I'm thinking they let excess water drain and the soap become lather faster. Accurate? What have you guys found to be the difference in holes or no holes? Pros and cons? What do you prefer and why?

    Thanks again for the help.

I found this scuttle and here is the description:

This very handy shaving mug has a concave bowl with holes to allow the water to reach and lather the soap bar. On the left you fill the mug with water to rinse your razor off between shaves as well as supply the soap cake with water. No need for a sink, you have all you need right here.
For use with our standard size soap bars.

Do you put a soap bar in the upper section and leave it there until it's all used? The water getting to the bottom of the soap, that makes no sense to me. Can anyone explain clearer please? Thanks.

Pottery/porcelain type mugs/bowls absorb and hold heat better than glass. The more mass the merrier. This time of year I preheat my mug with some water on the wood stove.

Soap needs warmth to work properly, that's one of the things that makes soaps different from detergent. (I looked it up once).

They are quality pieces. If you buy make sure you buy the latest model with the higher capacity bowl.

I have a Georgetown Pottery scuttle and I love it. Beautiful to look at, and works great.
