    Post Favorite Place to Purchase

I am new to SR shaving and have not purchased anything yet. I would like to know where are your favorite places to purchase shaving supplies (online or offline)? Thanks

I would second JBHoren on Straight Razor Designs for purchase of razor and strop. The razor will be expertly honed. I have also purchased from West Coast Shaving and received good product and service. The SRP classified is also a good place to look. I have used the services of gssixgun at gemstar customs for honing and rescaling. His work is excellent. He is a frequent contributor to this forum.

    Good suggestions above.

One thing I'll add is the importance of making sure any razor you buy is shave-ready. Most in the classified tend to be, but check with the seller to be sure. SRD, Gemstar, whippeddog will be, as will a number of other well-known online vendors. Another I'll suggest is Maggard Razors. Brad and Casie are great to deal with.

If you buy from a brick and mortar store, be aware that knife sharpening and razor honing are not the same thing, so buying from a knife store *may* be problematic in terms of the blade being shave-ready. There are certainly exceptions to that rule.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
