Why oh why oh why?????
The plan is to do my second SR-shave tonight.
Because of the little things that went wrong, I decided to get some alun and the proraso shave glue. Of course, that was the plan...
I had to wait some time in the shop and noticed the proraso preshave. I read that some guys heer in the forum use it as aftershave as wel, I wanted to give it a try, so I've bought the preshave.
While taking the preshave, I almost knocked something of the shelf with my elbow, some DR Harris soap. I remembered that the soap is vers high on a lot of favorit lists of you guys here. I smelled the soap but it was a very strong smell, wat to hard for me. I tried other ones and found one it really liked, so some DR Harris came home aswell.
When I was getting ready to pay, I had a little conversation with the shop owner. What blade did I buy, how often have I shaved with the SR.
And ofcourse the question came: do you do a complete shave with your SR?
After the first try, I told him about the cut, it wil take me some time to do a complete shave, step by step and for the time being, complete my shave with my fusion. Which I told him.
He told me about the less irritation and the practicallity when travelling of the DE.
A Merkur got added.
I'm not going near a store with shaving supplies for a year...Sometimes I feel normal.
Then it's time to lay down and wait for it to pass.

Thanked: 24Temptations, temptations yes don't we fall prey to various types. Sleek, shinny, nice smelling shaving stuff, like women too, hold a special allure. I do my best to only window shop but sometimes I take the bait. You are not alone.

If you don't want to know what to buy and how awesome it is you should leave now or become accustomed to the AD's. They really can be fun but will leave you broke and happy.
My wife calls me.........Can you just use Ed

He's right. The guy at the store. Jumping back and forth between real steel and micro-multi-blades x plastic razor HAS to be brutally confusing to the whiskers and skin.
We're here to help your beard*, not terrify it.
*beard management techniques that is.
enjoy the ride.

Yeppir.
You'll be glad for the Merkur in time. Just remember that it is _not_ like using a Fusion: there's a whole new learning curve that comes with the DE. Read the Forum here about Shaving with Safety Razors and have fun!Keep your pivot dry!

The salesman missed a couple of additional opportunities: no discussion of brushes and strops?
Good luck with the Merkur! That's good advice from deepweeds above.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
