Looking for help in Eastern VA!
Hey everyone! I am new to straight razors.
Pleasure to be here on the forums with you guys, I'm learning a ton and having lots of fun!
My wife got me a birthday present of a Pride Cutlery razor and strop (which I picked). I then purchased a norton 4/8k with leftover birthday money. Then, over Christmas I bought a Wade & Butcher celebrated fine india steel at an antique mall for 28 bucks. I spent hours removing the bug eaten scales and hand-sanding the W&B. Lots of fun! I then made new cocobolo scales. Finally I put it all together with micro stainless fasteners. I am going to post a complete restoration story with the painful lessons I learned - hopefully be helpful to others.
I also ordered a Lansky 600 bench stone, and a 1000 Arkansas stone with a christmas gift card, I wouldn't have necessarily ordered those stones, but the only ones I could choose at the store the gift card was to (scheels). Only thing left now for the W&B is to get a little chip out of the blade, set a bevel and sharpen her up. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
On a final note, is there anyone else on here in the Tidewater/hampton roads area of VA that could meet up with a new guy and help out with that final step I just described?

State v. Durham, 323 N.W. 2d 243, 245 (Iowa 1982) (holding that a straight razor is per se a "dangerous weapon").

I'm just 75 miles away in Nags Head, NC, but my stage of development is the same as yours...so I can't offer any help or coaching. However, if this post attracts a bunch of members from your area (or somewhere in between) I'd love to met up with an "expert and learn along with you! Welcome.

Thanks! I would also love to do a little get together. Hopefully we can create a little buzz.

I'm much more of a noob than you: I haven't got my first shave under my belt, yet!
But let me know if you're starting a new Straight Razor Club chapter...I'm in Suffolk.
