Thanked: 0Getting Started
I know there are 10000s post like mine and I am sorry. However, I am going to post this anyway. For the holidays my lovely girlfriend got me a straight razor set. To her knowledge and unknown to me she used Amazon reviews and got me a Kriegar Straight Razor. I went to a buddy of mine to hone it and he basically looked at it said he would do his best and told me why the razor sucks. I really want to get into straight razing as i feel its a lost art and a dying thing to do similar as writing cursive, the dewy decimal system in a library, or even what a library is besides a place to study. I am not that old by the way.
So what is the best shave ready or close to razor out there on a student budget.
Thanks

The dewy decimal system! What a scam that was. Just kidding. If you're on a tight budget I recommend the classified section here. You didn't state what your budget was but you may want to check out the Revisor website. They come direct from Germany and are very nice razors. I just ordered my second last week. They have many different models and price points.

There's a Genco in the classifieds for $47.... I almost bought it myself, but I'm on a RAD hiatus for the moment while my finances recover

Thanked: 4827The biggest key to what you are looking for is shave ready. I think that all the ads in the classifieds are clearly marked as to what is and isn't shave ready, as for budget stuff outside of that there is whipped dog, and they sell ugly ducklings, but they are shave ready just not pretty.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

When I read the word Kreiger, no exaggeration, I immediately groaned out loud and my girlfriend looked at me funny.
I feel bad for you sir...if I had something to send you atm, I would.
You said straight razor set...perhaps it's not a total loss and you have a passable learners strop and brush?
Hopefully someone with a spare can send you something, or you can scrounge for something from Larry like RezDog mentioned.

Thanked: 0Kyle, everything else is amazing and from what i read very well done. Love the shaving soap, came with a bowl and a badger brush.
The razor was just the anomaly in the gift which i was initially scared to tell her. But she understood and realized at that price it wasnt superb but was surprised that it was that bad. She compared Kreiger to Ebola, which i laughed at instantly. If people can keep their eyes out for me it would make a college student who wants all the newest gadgets very happy to have something so classic and cool as a working and good straight razor

Just check the classifieds regularly, something will come up. Sorry, just saw your location is there.
