Thread: Any Straight Razor users near Orange County, NY?

Looking for some help near Orange County, NY. Possibly a straight razor shave along w/ a lesson. I tried my first shave a few nights ago and things didn't go quite as well as expected. I think the lather was my issue. I was using Cella in the red container and because my scuttle has still yet to arrive I lathered right inside the container. Regardless of the blade angle the hairs were not cutting yet, tugging. After several tries I decided to quit before I cut myself and switched to the safety razor. Even with the safety razor the hairs were still being pulled leaving me to believe it was the lather. Note* My ebony scaled bismarck came shave ready honed by Lynn so I know the blade cannot be the issue.

Either way, take a look at some of the video's Lynn has made on straight razor shaving. Also take a look at the first straight razor shave thread. Lots of good advice from both sources.

You might be having an issue with your pre shave preparation. I get ready for my shave in this order

1.Hot Shower
2.Wash face with shea butter soap
3.Use pre shave cream or oil(I like Proraso green)
4.and lastly i massage in my thick lather for about 2 minutes to soften hair more(Tabac shave soap is my favorite soap)
