Thread: Great shave

After my first few straight shaves, after switching from a shavette a few months ago, my shaves have been a little lacking. Today, I decided to do a few extra strokes on the strop, spend a little bit longer building a lather and focus on short quick stokes. I didn't get anything off the alum, which was a first. t feel pretty proud to say BBS even ATG. My wife completely blew me off when I told her, I think she is sick of hearing about shaving stuff. I also stole one of my toddlers snack bowls to try building a better lather, which was successful.

Pre-shave - Proraso Pre-cream
Soap - Proraso Shave Soap
Razor - Ralf Aust 5/8
Aftershave - Alum Block
Aftershave - Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime

Just an FYI, you wife isn't likely to get any more impressed over time. I know first hand.

yep story of my life....for all husbands in fact i believe....the ground quakes beneath our feet if we don't show 120% enthusiasm in whatever the newest hobby of week is for the wife....but god forbid we men find something we enjoy and take pride in....we get sneered at while getting an attitude if we dare mention it! haha

Most likely your wife won't appreciate it but will be resigned to it. This may take a while.

My wife can care less how I shave.Her only edicts if say going out to dinner are:Clean shavin,old spice is fine,clean clothes,shoes polished.
Shirt tucked in, zipper up,ready to roll

Same is true with guns. I just keep it to myself. My line, "I have no idea what the post office delivered or is on the credit card bill."
