Sometimes I wish people would read the question being asked and answer that instead of simply posting whatever they feel like talking about at the moment...

    Good luck
Not a good idea. Beginners generally are very poor judges of what is a reasonably good razor and what is junk that is not worth fixing, not to even talk about the amount of work that it takes. The shortest and cheapest way to success is to make use of the expertise of those who have many years and hundreds/thousands of razors of experience.

I have purchased one razor from Bobsrazors and was pleased. He seems to have very high quality pieces...

Hi johnwayne27, welcome. I have not purchased a razor from Bob yet, but have sent some razors to him to hone for me and I think he does a real good job and he is easy to talk with and will answer any question.

++ on RoyalCakes comments on Bobsrazors. I have had the pleasure of purchasing several of Bob's razors over the past couple of years and he is a gentleman, very knowledgeable and sells superb razors which are always described to perfectly.
Johnwayne27 you cannot go wrong with a purchase from Bob. Enjoy and welcome.

If you're going to get a strop from Larry, I'd get the rich man strop. Personally, I'd get a strop from SRD, like the modular paddle strop, or one of their hanging strops with the hard pressed wool option. Another good place to look at is the classifieds here on SRP. There are usually good deals to find.
