Thanked: 0waiting for first shave
I just bought my first razor that i will be able to shave with, on ebay from germanrazors its a revisor gold, he said it was shave ready. Has anyone bought any razors from this person? I also bought a 3" tony miller strop. I have a boar brush and cavendish black soap from colleen, and i'm thinking of getting the dvd from lynn, is there any thing else i need to start out?

I've bought a number of razors from that seller. I was happy with all of them but never tried to shave with one as-received. Most needed just a little time on the hone but one of them needed to go back to the hones enough times to surprise me before I was satisfied with it.
You just bought an excellent razor there as well as the strop and soap. If I were you I'd invest just a little more and send it to a honemeister to make the experience of shaving with it as good as it can be. Your biggest variable at that point will be stropping it correctly (search the old threads on that subject).
As far as additional gear is concerned, a pasted paddle or bench hone will help you keep that edge tuned up for a long time. Your main choices are diamond paste or chromium oxide - I think the diamond paste cuts faster but that the chrome oxide makes for a more comfortable shave.
Some guys like the boar brushes long term and others (most) move on to badger. The C&E best badger brush is considered a best buy for the most economical badgers, and I think the Shavemac 501 is a great value if you want to move up a bit but stay well under $100.
Enjoy the ride

I think you can still get in on the free shipping deal for Shavemacs at Vintage Blades. These are very hard to beat for quality to price ratio, but that's only my opinion.
