    Smile The Right Stuff! Maybe!!!!

I am new to all of this, and if i watch one more video on you tube i think my head is about to explode. Just kidding! This is what i have for a starter kit. Dovo Silver Prima Steel Razor, A wonderful hand made plain Vanilla Strop from the well shaved gentleman, Pure Badger brush from the Art of Shaving, and a 12000 Naniwa wet. I hope that this is a wise starter kit! This is my welcome home gift from wife after deployment. Now i have found out that there are a million videos on stropping, a million videos on honing, and 4 million on straight razor shaving. So i have decided to come to this site that has great information, and wisdom on the Art. Lynns videos on well basically everything about shaving have been the most helpful. Lynn Thank you by the way. Now i have the task to put this all together. I would love to get the Razor honed the right way so that i see the difference between right, and my wrong. LOL! This was suggested by Tony Miller of the Well shaved gentleman. Any suggestions on any of these items or what i may also need would be wonderful. And most of all Thank you in advance.
Here are some great books that I downloaded for free, and very helpful.

Have a look in the classifieds here under member services. You'll likely find a member who offers honing in your part of the world. Definitely get it honed. I've also got a plain vanilla strop from Tony when I first stared. It's a great strop to start with but not always available so you're lucky to have got one. You can convert it to a pasted strop later on as long as you don't cut it up too much. You can also use the backside with a diamond spray right now if you want. The naniwa will be good to use when you've lost the edge and it won't come back with the paste of diamond spray. I also have one I use for touch ups. Good luck.

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

I wouldn't recommend using the spray right away. First get it honed. Then when you get it back do not strop it before your first shave (this way you have something to compare to when it starts to dull). Practice stropping before you send it out for honing. That way after your first shave you will have some stropping experience. The spray comes much later.

Oh i am just trying to buy a little here and there to stock up. I have bought a practice strap and cheap razor. I didn't want to ruin Tonys strop. I wouldn't dear graduate to the sprays yet. Once i get some time in on this i am going to try different things. But as for right now i would love to shave with the DOVO. Thats actually a great idea about not stropping and wait for it to pull. Thank you!
