First shave, done.
Finally put one of the 7 SR's that somehow magically appeared in my possession to use. Cudarunner was kind enough to hone up a couple of the razors that were in better condition and got them back to me yesterday. This morning I used the J.S. Holler razor (needs the scales replaced) and ToBS sandalwood to shape my beard. There was no blood loss and I got most of the stubble removed. I will call today a success.

Congrats on a non-slasher film first shave! In all seriousness, many people's first shave with a straight does go alright and doesn't always end in disaster. My first shave with one wasn't really smooth, but definitely acceptable with no nicks. I was even using some cheap soap and terrible brush. Starting off with a shave ready razor and gathering plenty of information before you start can make a large difference in the quality of your first shave.
Enjoy the remainder of the ride. Next stop, AD town!
