Thanked: 0First shave with a straight razor
I'd like to say that all went well, but I found out the hard way that the learning curve is greater than for a DE razor. First, thanks to Val at The Gentleman's Den for a nice razor with an edge I would have not thought possible. To say that this thing was sharp is a drastic understatement. I caught the point of the blade on my cheek three times. On the plus side I finally got to use the styptic pencil that I had just bought. Despite this, I can't wait 'til my beard grows so I can try again.

The good news is, you won't suffer the over-confidence that so many of us succumb to after our oh-so-cautious, bloodless first shave! You were going to bleed sooner or later, and now it's done! (Well, when I say "done"…)
Keep your pivot dry!

Definitely +1 on what Deepweeds said... Overconfidence and a good first shave often spell disaster for the second shave! Keep taking steps slow and steady and enjoy the journey! :-)
