I've done it finaly.

my 6th attempt and I finaly managed to shave a clean shave with no whiskers , no razor burn and no cuts

I am so pleased with my self, and my Wife thinks my face feels great

WTG Wayne. I still remember that moment of epiphany, courtesy of Tony Holmes (ultra-cheap razor that's STILL my best shaver by far) and X-MD (honed it and taught me the basics)

This is no time to be bragging -- I mean it did take you 6 tries..

Actually to get a really good shave the 6th time is pretty darn good. You should be bragging!

OH! okay .

seriously , I don't know if i'm doing it the same way as everyone else, but this time I made sure that every time the lather dried out I added more with plelnty of hot water in the bowl, I tried to make sure I kept the angle consistent and I shaved with diferent 'portions' of the blade depending on where I was shaving.

and credit where it's due without reading what all you Gentleman have written on this Forum I'd never have managed it - so thank you all

I would say that if you are getting no razor burn after your 6th try then you are doing very well.
