If in doubt use tape. Worst that happens is you set a micro bevel which should only make it easier for you. Good luck

Everything came in and worked wonderfully. Shout out to gssixgun for the great 'how to' video on the barbers hone.

The CrOx and FeOx was a nice finish to the refresh, my edge was smooth and sharp after 10 minutes of easy maintenance. I've never used chromium oxide alone so I cannot speak to the (in)efficacy of the iron oxide.

I suspect I will be able to get along for a while with these two items until I get the itch to hone a new razor from scratch.

Minus any unforeseeable accidents or mis-strops or something, you'd be correct.

Just don't get any more razors and you won't have to worry about any more hones. Let's just see if you can do that If so, then you'll have succeeded where many have failed, including myself and will be well deserving of a tip of my hat
