    Default First Shave

Got my norton today from howard. Soaked it and sat down for 30 minutes and worked on an Ebay Frederick Reynolds til it passed HHT. Dont have the #1 I ordered from Tony yet, but I couldnt wait. I got out an old soft leather belt I had and gave it about 30 or so passes. Filled the sink with hot water. Put my mug with soap in it and put my brush in the mug with hot water covering the bristles and soap. Took a hot shower. Got out and stropped the razor again. lathered up and went to work. Did 3 passes:With, Against, Across. Not quite smooth as a baby's backside, but darn close. I hope it only gets better. Finished up with some toner and bay rum. Feel like a new man all my tension just melted. Oh and just a couple little dots of red didnt even need the stypic. The same as I might have gotten from a cartridge razor. I am just overwhelmed with the difference. A little luxury is kinda nice compared to the quick shaves I was doing with just water with the Mach 3. Cant believe what I have been missing. I think I may be a lifelong convert! Thanks for providing all the wonderful information this page provides. Now cant wait for the TM strop and colleens soap to come. Time to save for a Badger brush. Just thought I would share.

I just started using a straight razor in late Nov., because I have a job where shaving isn't necessary I started shaving at night. It gives me plenty of time for max. prep and in the beginning I thought if i cut my self badly I would be somewhat healed by morning. Well the bad cuts never happened just manageable nicks, but the neat thing, which I never expected is on the nights that I shave I also sleep better. Its hard to believe that shaving could also be so relaxing. BTW, I just received 2 Mama Bear soaps today, can't wait for my evening shave.

You took an old junker that was collecting dust for decades and turned it into a real shaver. Wtg Now all you have to do is work on your technique to get yourself BBS.

Haven't quite got as far as using my str8 yet (strop was delayed in customs ).

But I've started using my new brush and some nice soaps from C&E and Trumpers. I simply cannot believe how much of a difference it makes, even though I'm still with the old Mach 3. Just last weekend managed to get the hang of creating good lather - did 5 passes the first time round because it was so much fun .

My skin didn't thank me for the Mach 3, but nonetheless I've been shaving daily since then (used to be every other day).
