After nearly a month (since I decided to go to SR) I've completed a full face shave with my SR!!! That's a long time to wait for a guy who usually doesn't wait for anything! No nicks! I only did WTG strokes this time as well.

When I first started out on this adventure, I got a DE, cup, brush, soap, cream and a nice but inexpensive balm while I continued to research the whole SR arena. I started to learn to make lather and as well as using something other than a Mach3 or an electric razor to shave.

Later I decided on a SR (Dovo Best 5/8) and sent it out for a professional hone (a must if it's not absolutely "shave ready"). I had no desire to mess up a good SR.

I practiced dominant hand on flat parts of that side of my face first (side burns), then later went to my non-dominant hand on my side burns on the other side. Thanks SRP founder, Lynn, for your advise! It really set me on solid ground.

I also learned I should eat something (not just coffee) prior to shaving. If I don't, I tend to have shaky hands (and not just from nerves ;-).

What a sense of accomplishment I feel!!!

Thanks to all on SRP who've put themselves out there to help us newbies!!! Who knows, maybe by the end of the year I'll be proficient at this!?
