    Default First Shave!!

    Hello All,

Today was my first attempt at wet shaving! I used the Van der Hagen luxury set that has the badger brush, and glycerin soap for my lather and I used a Parker SR1 Shavette with Shark blades. I must say that I was quite surprised at the lather I got with the Van der Hagen soap and how great it smelled. I had heard from some that it wasn't that great but it worked for me. Of course since this was my first time my ignorance to quality soaps my have left me in bliss. I had no pre or after shave though now I wish I did.

I started off with a hot shower and let my brush soak during that time. I then lathered up and proceeded to shave. The first pass was great! On three days growth the shark blade had no problem. unfortunately I got over confident on the second run and gave my self a few nicks. They were no worse than the ones I have got from shaving with a dull cartridge though. I had some issues with my jaw line and the sides of my lips. So I eventually just used my cartridge razor on those really tricky spots. All in all I am super happy with the experience. I am glad that I came to this forum first because if I hadn't I would have been discouraged with my results. After reading some of the troubles beginners have I just chalked it up to the learning curve.

I look forward to my next shave. I'll be more patient for sure and will not get ahead of myself next time. Thanks for all the help and support SRP Nation!

Now all you have to do is figure out how to get the scruff to grow faster. I remember your thread about the VDH shave set and I'm glad it worked for you.

Sounds like a decent start. If you slow down and concentrate I think you will be suffering less cuts next time. Good luck
