Thanked: 0Shark Blades
Hello all,
I may not get too many hits on this because I'm using a shavette and not a proper SR but I have a quick question. Has anyone used Shark blades? I received 5 with my Parker Shavette and they work great but I only get one shave out of them. My facial hair is like steel wool so that may have something to do with it. Does anyone have any recommendations for good blades? I plan on going to a proper SR eventually but I'm just not sure when. I'd like to have the Shavette as a back up for when the SR needs honing. Thanks everyone!

Thanked: 580Pretty sure I tried one in a DE razor a while back, less than average blade I thought. Astra SP are good and reasonably priced, or try a sampler pack of blades.

Feather blades. Shark blades come in a close second for me. I use freather in my Gilletts when I do a DE shave.
For the shavette just stick with the sharks then you wont have to snap the feathers in half. Check this out...100 shark 1/2 blades

Ahhh the parker shavette. I still have mine. I remember the first shave with it with the shark blades. It was great right out of the gates. I would squeeze two shaves out if a half but only the first shave was good. I've tried many blades since then and I like both the persona lab and feather blades. I settled on feathers but I should warn you they are sharp and unforgiving of poor technique. On the positive side you will learn right quick how to shave like a pro. Feather.

I love Sharks DE blades, they are second to Feather, AFAIC.
I use my Sharks in vintage Gillette DE razors.

Thanked: 36I have a shavette which i use when i don't have time for stropping and all that business that makes a straight so enjoyable. Derby are my personal choice for it, they're cheap and sharp enough to give me a close shave, but not so sharp as to remove my actual face. I've tried a few sharper brands but it's a fine line between sharp and bloodthirsty with a shavette. I haven't tried sharks, but i have a friend who tried for DE shaving some from a sampler pack. He wasn't so keen and said they were sharp enough but seemed king of rough to shave with. He really wanted them to be good too, the shark on the packet is so cool.
