Default Once You Use Tape Do You Always Use Tape ??

Long story made short....I had to put tape on the spine of a "Royal Wedge" razor made in Springfield, Illinois to try and get a smaller bevel by raising the worn down spine. Before the tape...I just could not get the razor to "sharpen". The "bevel face" was really wide and the razor just wouldn't get sharp. Once I added the tape...the 40 circle routine did it's trick and the razor is ready for a shave test. The tape stayed on the razor thru the 1K...4K...8K...12K....0.5 diamond felt...chromium oxide felt...and the smooth leather stropping. My question is.....If I end up shaving with this razor, do I need to tape the spine every time I want to strop it....on the leather?....refreshing on the 0.5 diamond felt?....on the chromium oxide felt? I'm new to the straight razor world and this is my first practice razor....purchased off of Ebay....

If you honed it with tape, then refresh it with tape.
Don't strop a taped razor, remove tape before stropping.
