Shave Number 1 - Under the Belt!!!
Well I finally got a STR8 from DMS a fellow member on this forum. He has been very helpful in providing me with with a shave ready razor. Well after reading all the material over the past couple of days I finally took the plunge
All I have to say is WOW!!! I did not know what I was missing.
I Stropped the blade 15 time on the lenin and 30 times of the leather. Hot shower lathered with Proraso and my B&B brush and started the shave.
1st Pass WTG
(My hands tremble as the blade near my cheeks. I step back take deep breath and go for it)
I am using both hands. One hand to stretch the skin other to shave. Very smooth WTG movements. This was one of the SMOOTHEST shaves I have experienced. and NO NICKS (just you wait). I have some good beard reduction (Dare I say better than a DE in the first Pass?)
2nd Pass XTG
( I only intended to do 1 pass but the first was so good that I had to do the second)
Cheeks all good
Neck all good
Jaw Line - I loose concentration and cut my right ear lob ( a bleeder).
Chin and upper lip- as my ear bleeds I try to finish up the chin and get a small nick under the chin and one under my nose. Not as bad as my ear
I am finally done with one on THE SMOOTHEST shave w/o BURN.
INJURY REPORT
Ear lob - 1 cut out of action for next shave
Chin - 1 nick (ready to go for next shave)
Upper Lip - 1 nick (Probable for tomorrow's shave)
KUDOS to the good folks on this forum for all their help!! and No for safety reasons I did not shave in my birth day clothes

Amyn - congratulations on such good results with your first straight! Your time spent reading and learning ahead of time really paid off.
They'll only get better going forward from here and you're learning what not to do in order to avoid nicks/cuts. I know you're looking forward to your next shave already, just like the rest of us.

Congrats on your first shave, it looks like your well on your way. The ear lobe will heal, and as for nicks on your chin, I got one this AM, not bad, Will just be more careful tomorrow.

Nice one, Amyn! Only one each on chin and lip is pretty darn good. My top lip look like it had been savaged by a squirrel my first time. Keep it going!
