Thanked: 1I feel the burn!
Just got done with my first shave. Equipment: VDH Shave set, Parker SRB (shavette), Shark Stainless Steel Blade, Nivea After Shave Lotion
Verdict: I shaved what I could for the first time. Didn't get everything. Having lots of trouble with the sideburns because I don't know how to hold it right. Same goes for under my chin. Anyone have some good videos? Got a few cuts as well but that's ok with me.

Go to the "Library" link right under the SRP logo at the top of the page and right next to the forum link. Have a good look through the Beginner's Guide and then look under the shaving link for the videos that you are requesting. Enjoy, be patient and take it slow.

read read and read more. watch Lynn's vid.
I didn't cut myself for weeks after i started learning, one stroke at a time, to shave with SR. A beginner has no business on his chin with a SR until he's become PROFICIENT on his cheeks.
I don't know how everyone keeps missing the how-to's of value* and just jump in and start hacking up their faces.
*and there's a big difference in videos of this sort: "Hey look what I can do!" and the other sort "Here's how a beginner should start."
Youtube doesn't give ratsass what they throw in front of you.
One good approach to stay "on track" when viewing videos there is to do your search/filtering and then "OPEN LINK IN A NEW WINDOW or TAB" such that you don't lose the valid index to your search and wind up going down the youtube path of nonsensical jumps and (dis)connections. Big difference in learning and entertainment/showing off. Best of luck.Buttery Goodness is the Grail

Sounds like you didn't do too bad your first time out. It is going to take some time and practice but don't over think it either. Just take your time and remove the hair from the face. Keep the angles low to start with and the pressure even lower and let the blade do the work. Just my 2 cents.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
