Thanked: 220Ya, the scales do look good. The only problem with mine is that I used Maas to polish the blade and it dulled the gold wash.

Thanked: 1I am now the proud owner of two Bismarks, one new, and one old,(Bismarck Super). I always get a great shave with them. I know the anticipation you you were feeling. Hope it was a good experience for you.

Thanked: 4I have always coveted Bismarks.
I have had to get my blades honed more than once in a couple weeks. Unfortunately the last time I sent it for honing due to general poor stropping technique, I got it home and within two shaves I nicked it on the faucet. *facepalm*

Thanked: 2It's mainly for practice, since I just started honing my own razors. But at the same time, I found it difficult to hone a Bismarck due to its lack of a stabilizer. I posted a post, which you could read if you ever hone your own Bismarck, and basically learned from older members of the forum that I need to use less pressure when honing.
There is no problem maintaining a consistent edge. It's more about my lack of experience honing a shoulder-less blade and the learning process.
I use the hanging hair test to test sharpness with my own hair. Although some members of the forum may point out that HHT is just a test and does not indicate how well a razor shaves, I believe that if it can slice through my own hair, then it can slice through my whiskers pretty well. So this is just a personal opinion. I hone my Bismarck and now it's barely passing the HHT. As I become better at honing a shoulder-less blade, I believe that one day, it'll pass the HHT with ease.
Hope it helps. If you got it from SRD, then I am sure it is shave-ready!
