Thread: What I Learned After First 4 Shaves

Its great reading posts like this even though I am a bit beyond 4 shaves now . It reminds me of all those things I (we all) used to obsess over "back in the day.". . Nicely done.

If I can impart one thing to you and others at this stage, it's this: don't speak in absolutes yet.

When I started, I spoke in absolutes. I really wanted absolutes... anyone learning something feels better with absolutes. As importantly, don't sell stuff yet because of these conclusions lol!!

I say that because if you are anything like me, you'll flipflop more than a few times as you progress lol! That AoS that you don't like today, you may love tomorrow lol!!

At each stage I have found myself reevaluating everything in my den lol! Its kind of the best part!!

There is one absolute I can recommend to you... NO DISTRACTIONS (wife, kids, dogs, cats, etc) while performing the delicate art of straight shaving, especially starting out.

The only "absolute" for me is a sharp blade. I've gotten perfectly good shaves using Dawn Dishwashing Liquid applied with my hands with no preparation whatsoever.
