Thread: My very first Razor

Hello everybody, totally new to the cut throat world of RAZOR.

Well, I was very excited when my "NOS!! Dovo Bergischer Lowe 6/8 Straight Razor. Prof. Honed and Shave Ready!!" arrived in the mail today.
I could hardly wait to try it out.....

When I did the hair follicle test I was a little disappointed that it didn't cut through my hair like a samurai sword, in fact my first shave was a complete failure.
Since it was able to cut hair on my arms, I felt that it just needed some stropping and I would be set to go, lots of videos on Youtube how hard could this be. Back to lather on my face and ready to give it another try...luckily I didn't get rid of my disposable BIC shavers.

What now?

I guess I have a steep learning curve, but I will never surrender..... I will master the art of the straight edge razor.
Are there any Hone Meisters in the Toronto area?

I would appreciate if someone could tell me a little about the razor I bought and what the value might be, I am sure I spent way too much on this but it is absolutely mint and I fell in love with it on first sight.
