Default A question about skin stretching

Hello gentlemen, I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I'm having in stretching my skin. I am able to "grip" the skin near my sideburns to stretch the skin on my cheeks but I am unable to grip the skin where I have just shaved as it is too slick to grip properly, and was interested in any tips people may have?

Rubbing wet fingers on an alum block, does the trick.

Use your jaw to stretch the skin furter down, keep your grip where it is, and move your chin in the oposite direction.

Like is said above, the alum block will do the trick. Once you gain more experience, you'll not need it, but in the beginning it is an ace.

A third vote for alum on the fingertips. It will solve your issue.

Just an interested question, why do you think that experience will negate the need to have grippy fingers?

When I want to do aggressive ATG passes, I always use a hand towel to maximize grip.

Yes experience will negate the need to stretch. You will find you do not need to stretch your skin as tight as a drum to get a good shave, just enough to make the hair stand straighter to be whacked off.

I use a combination of head tilts (back and to the side), pressing in strategic areas and cheek puffing to get problem areas.

Experimentation and experience will tailor your technique to get the best shave without excessive stretching, just enough to get the job done.

I don't use my opposite hand to skin stretch. I just use facial contortions and jaw movements. For me, works well.

Thanks for all the tips guys, looks like I'll have to get myself a block of alum and more shaving under my belt.
