Thanked: 0A week in to SR shaving
I guess I am one of the lucky few, I did cut and grunt on the first shave but came here and read all the basics in the library and a good chunk of the other stuff. The following shaves have been pretty smooth and great results. I haven't gotten BBS all over but closer than you would on a down stroke of a disposable razor. I am pretty confident with good angle and skin stretching I will get the ultra smooth. Honestly, I like what I have got so far and not really shooting for that on a daily basis. Even if I got BBS it will no doubt disappear by the end of the day in certain fast growing areas near my chin.
I would like to say thank you to all the people who contributed to the good information to help me along might straight razor journey.

Good to hear! The shaves will continue to grow consistently better with time. Enjoy!

Awesome. You may be surprised how long a great shave can last. I used to need a shave by 5 or 6 (I usually shave around 4:30 am). Now, middle of the night my face still feels pretty good. I shave everyday because I like to now

Thanked: 7Keep on going :] The shaves will become better and better. I am 8 weeks into SR shaving, and I'm at a point where my shaves are as good as they get with a disposable razor, with almost no blood. And I'm using a low-quality razor! (Gold Dollar)
BTW, my beard grows like crazy. They said I'm a werewolf on 10th grade. While I was in the army, I needed to shave twice a day in order to be able to face officers..
now, with a SR, I need a shave only after 36 hours! It's not that it's closer (yet) than before, but somehow my beard reacts different to it :]
Enjoy your shaving :]

Thanked: 6I am 8 shaves in and got my first small scratch on number 8 and other than a few bumps that get tiny blood spots here and there it's going well. it's getting much better. Fun hobby and makes shaving fun

Thanked: 60Glad to hear it's going well, the initial learning curve is great fun. I've been at it a bit over a year and still enjoying the shaves. Especially like experimenting with different sorts of grinds. Really liked near wedges when I first started, becoming more partial to very hollow nowadays. Keep at it and enjoy!

Thanked: 0Thanks for the replies. I am still on the hunt for that angelic shave. As crazy and even stupid as this sound, I shaved better when I had a few beers in me. I think it took off the nervous feelings and let me just kinda flow with it :P
