After one week here i did my first restoration!!!
Hi guys , i learned so much here from you efter almost one week, and tried to fix a razor, i have so much to lrean but i thought i have start somewhere,

Thanked: 636Nice work. Its a shame you lost the gold on the blade. Did the inlay in the scales polish up? Could not tell in photos. Congrats. Each one will be better than the last.

No amount of washing can stop cell rot, its a "rotting" of the celluloid material that releases an acidic gas that will eat away nearby metal, as well as rot other celluloid near it, especially in enclosed boxes.

Thanked: 24personally I never cared for the celluloid scales and simply replaced them with scales made of a nice type of wood. I did this even before I ever heard of cell rot

Thanked: 7Being the stressed person I am already, this "cellrot" thing got me panicked...
How do I know if my scales are plastic or celluloid? If there isn't much corrosion on the blade when I got it, is it safe to assume that the evil handle isn't murdering my blade?
Is there any way to prevent mother nature from ruining my beloved razors.....?
