Thanked: 0Hi All
Ok, about to draw first blood .
I grew up w/ straight razors and strops hanging in the bathroom (yep, I've got some miles on me), but they weren't allowed in the military so I went to the dark side although I never gave up wet shaving. The stuff from a can (even Old Spice, sob), ah yuck. I went back in my 40's but didn't know enough about honing, so you can figure how that went! Dad was the expert, and I didn't pick it all up - we all should have paid more attention to our elders! Now I are one. But, I've got plans for my son-in-law!
Ok, so I'm feed up with 4-bladed wonders and am willing to bleed a little for the cause.
Anybody in the Farmington, NM area I can lean on?
happy to be here; great site.
Jim

JFreeman, as another oldie (but goody) let me welcome you to SRP. The wikis will partially replace what you didn't get from your father. The enire SRP populace is at your disposal - ask, ask, ask!. Plus there are mentors and members in NM. Some of them might chime in here. The rest you can ferret out by going to the members page and in the advanced search function try New Mexico first for what results you can get, then try your town, NM and try towns close to you. One way or another you will get the info you need.
I'm almost on one year of straights and just now learning to hone (at my old dog age no less) and learning new tricks. Welcome again, enjoy the ride,"The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

I'll echo what Razorfeld said. I am just over a year and just starting to touch up my razors to lengthen times between honing, but I so enjoy learning and re-learning things my dad tried to teach me so many years ago. Hint: I just got off the phone with Social Security.
Just call me Harold

There are a few guys in N.M. I'm in ABQ and there are a few down south. No one in your area that I'm aware.

Hi and welcome. There is more information here than you can possibly ask for. The search is great for finding what you are looking for but if you get stuck just ask and everyone is willing to help out. Good luck
