You are absolutely right - we are supposed to be mature. Some of us are, in years, anyway.

You are also right about the thread being finished - but there is still some fun to be had out of it. It wouldn't interest the seriously mature guys, but it warms the heart of the old and immature ones like me.

PS: you are wrong on one point - some blades are still made the way old ones were, but they tend to be revived companies like Revisor who use a lot of old guys, skills, and machinery going back to something like the 1950s and which are the only example of its kind I know of, along with custom makers. Good hitting average you had there, though!

Hah, touché! It is good to hold on to your childish side. Keeps the heart young even when the body no longer is. I just prefer enough maturity to hold my tongue. No point riling the masses!

Quite a thread! Where in south Florida are you, the Miami area? Or souther than that? Are you getting your water from a well? I lived in Sarasota for a while and in my opinion the groundwater there is terrible. I think it has a bad effect on the shaving experience and maybe the razor too. The water smells like a skunk that went smelly. I wonder if experimenting with bottled water will give you a better shave.

Yes I did read the posts by the experienced guys who identified a warp in your blade. I'm just wondering if that stinky Florida water is contributing to your sensation of a dull blade.

The last time I was there was 4 years ago and using a double edge razor and Astra blades, I nicked myself. I changed to Feather blades and still nicked myself. I wasn't being miserly: I'd change to a new blade every 2 shaves. Perhaps it was my own impatience.
