    If you have an old leather belt lying around that is flat and clean, you could practice your stripping on that to avoid damage to your high dollar strop when it arrives! Just make sure there is nothing wrong with the belt before you ruin your edge on it.

    if you are going to practice stropping, just use something similar to a straight, like a butterknife or similar, get comfortable with the action then you will be fine

    +1. Exactly what I did and it worked like a charm. No nicks in my strop and my first razor is still in great shape.
