I do it every Saturday and Sunday morning.
Instead of towels, I use wash cloths. I typically start with three....get them dripping damp, fold them crosswise (to make a triangle - opposite corners touch) - then, take the two opposite points, fold both to the middle, and roll from the fold so the point of the triangle is on the outside (there should be two, opposing corners at the point)
do that to all three, and put them on a salad plate, and into the microwave for a minute and a half or so - just watch it and look for steam.
when they're ready, take them into the bathroom and start your prep - the wash cloths will stay hot for a long time.
get everything ready, lather your face, and grab the first wash cloth by the two points on the outside (just use your fingertips, cause these suckers are HOT!) ... wave it around a bit, and let it cool off enough to put on your lathered face...after it cools enough, I just lean over and using both hands, hold the wash cloth up to my face, under my chin and on my neck with my hands, and let the heat soak in. After about 45 secs. or so, the cloth cools down a bit, and just repeat with the other two. sometimes its nice to save the last one for after the shave....whatever floats your boat..
I sure look forward to it....one of these days, Im going to try some eucalyptus or a bit of menthol or something in there....h-m-m-m-m-m-m

When I went for a gentleman's shave at Truefitt & Hill in London I was impressed at how hot and perfumed their towels were. Lying there with them draped over my face. Bliss. I expected to see some kind of old steamer in the corner of the room where they kept them. I turned around and there was a shiny new microwave with LEDs flashing all over the place. Gave me a laugh...
