Thanked: 0Awesome 4th of July gift!
So I am in a lil over a month SR shaving and find it getting much smoother each day I shave. I was talking to my dad about how I had switched and to my surprise he told me that it was how he used to shave and my grandfather as well. I figured my grandfather had but didn't know he was shaving like that before I was born.
He told me to wait in the kitchen and came back with a black velvet bag. I had a pretty good idea was what was inside but still surprised he had some. He pulls out A Boker, Dubl Duck, Union Cutlery, Red Imp, and a Pakistani made one.He then told me to pick 2 but not the Pakistan because someone gave that to him way back but it didn't shave well. The union cutlery was my grandfather's razor and the dubl was my dad so I picked them.
It was an awesome surprise and hope I can get both restored. My grandads looks a lil rough and was also told he got another razor and used the one I got to castrate hogs(he was a rough farmer man). My dads also looks like it may have a lil rusting on the edge but I am not sure. Regardless I think they are awesome and glad I got them.

Thanked: 3215Nice.
Post some pics, rusting at the edge may be a sign of Cell Rot.
It also is common where someone dry-shaved the blade to test the edge and put it away without wiping the edge clean.
Either way post pics, please. Razors with history are always better.

Thanked: 1184A 4th you will remember eh ? Sounds like you got some priceless blades.
"" grandfather used the one I got to castrate hogs""" This reminds me of some times I had on my ranch. Wished I had a straight back then. If your going to eat them you have to castrate them. You can taste it in the meat. I won't tell the story here and let's just call it " Silence of the Hogs" and leave it at that. :<0)Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I can still hear the squeals as they are lowered into... Uhhh, let's not go there.
Nice picking but I have a soft spot for Boker.

What an incredible gift and opportunity... To now have and be able to shave with your Granddad's and Dad's SR! Certainly does not get much better than that! Enjoy those shaves!

That is great ! Now in the old days on SRP they would have said pictures or it didn't happen ..... but I won't say that myself .......
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
