Three months in and I'm still having some trouble with my kneck hair. It is getting better but its still not 100%. The biggest thing I've learned up to now is that everything in this game takes time. You have to remember that our forefathers grew up with using a straight, its all they knew but for the likes of you and me we have to learn the skill from a much later starting point in life.

From what I have read though you seem to have done pretty much everything that this site advises new people NOT to do, as a result you have given it up as a bad job possibly without ever having had a shave with a truly ready razor......which is a shame IMO

Knowing what you know now (which you probably should have known before you opened the razor but hey we can't turn back time ). Personally I would take the offer of the free honing that came with your razor and when you get it back just wipe off the oil and have a shave, don't strop!

You might decide that its still not for you, nothing wrong with that but at least you will know that you have had a go with a truly shave ready razor. Its up to you but it seems daft not to give it a try as it won't cost you anything and you may find something in life that you enjoy

2. "Shave ready" was it "Factory Shave Ready" or was it honed by somebody that knows what they are doing..

Without those two answers we really have no idea how to help and are just shooting in the dark

Now that you have "Attempted honing" things are really in the air but the above info will still help us help you

We don't even know if you were using a real "Straight Razor" let alone if it was ever "Shave Ready" which to many of us is very depressing because now we just lost a possible member of our small little group You very well might have not have ever had a chance at achieving a smooth shave..

Any razor I aquire is always sent out to a pro for honing before I use it. This way, I know for sure that it's shave ready.
