    Default Finally

Ok I did it. After practicing stropping with a butter knife for weeks, working on lather technique while DE shaving, and reading/video watching I have finally pulled the trigger on a straight razor. I bought it from ebay. Hoping to get it Saturday. It is a Dorko. The seller claims he bought it NOS a short time ago. He says it is honed, stropped, and shave ready. I hope it is a good one. I am thinking I will ask Lynn to check it out to ensure it has an adequate edge before using it.

Nice, a Dorko, if you're going to dive in, couldn't dive in with a nicer razor!

Remember, take your time, enjoy the journey, forget about the destination LOL, and it always helped me when I tried to over-complicate things, that it's just shaving, and to keep it simple!

Looks like your off to a great start!

WOW, you did great!!! You got you a nice catch! When you do something, you go all out don't you? Make sure you also get you a second razor for a backup but considering what you got so far you made an excellent choice.

I received my razor. It looks to be in great shape. However, the stamps on tang seem a little week. Not sure if that means it has been ground some, or if some razors are just like that.
Shave went good. No blood, no rash. I did a single pass wtg on the cheeks. It seemed to go well. I followed up with DE. Shave was close. I stropped and hopefully did not mess up edge.
Looking forward to my next SR shave. Thanks to all here who have contributed and supplied the info that made my first SR shave a success.
