I feel your pain, the hair on my neck is THICK and grows in all varying directions. The hair growth on my neck looks like satellite imagery of a hurricane. I am still working on a way to get that sorted out. A single WTG pass looks as if I didn't even shave.

My neck is also a major pain... I've fallen back on using almost zero angle and doing short "scythe-like" swipes when going against the grain. It's obviously my technique vs the razor, because sometimes I get a great shave (always 2 passes with some touch up) and sometimes I don't.

Thanked: 177You can shave the neck separately. Use your dry face skin to pull the neck up. Practice on a dry face the stretch that will raise the stubble the most. And a small towel used to help with pulling wet skin will help as well. Slicing strokes help, but be very careful. And comfort does win over perfect as some stubble left that you cant see is better than irritation that you can and the discomfort as well. I use a slicing stroke like 15 degrees to the stroke, this gives me like a 2 pass reduction as opposed to straight shaving. WHat works for one may or may not work for another so try various suggestions as well as your own observations. You can definitely improve on what your doing now. Good luck.

I noticed some of y'all mentioned trouble shaving the adams apple. A trick I learned from watching Mantic59 videos is to swallow and hold the swallow so that the adams apple disappears. I then stretch the skin and am able to get a close shave over my knobby adams apple.

I share your frustration, Tymus. And you and I have been str8t shaving for about the same.
You've done a good job of describing the beard growth pattern on my neck. The only way I've managed a really good shave in those areas requires contortions that I'm simply not willing to put myself through on a regular basis. Perhaps I'll figure it out eventually, but in the meantime, I agree with Obie and satisfy myself with a decent, comfortable shave. When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

A single WTG pass on my neck also doesn't cut the mustard. Better that perhaps than tearing it up and having to wait a day or more until the burn heals. I also use next to zero angles with my passes on the neck, but irritation along the DMZ persists. I have resorted to sectional shaving on several occasions (lathering only the part of the face or neck to be shaved, then using that clean section to facilitate more effective skin stretching). This works very well for shaving underneath the chin and jawline, but south of that seems to have little effect. I'm still working with skin stretching techniques. I should mention that when shaving this area I tend to really stretch my jaw out and tilt my head back to limit the contours as much as possible. I must admit that at times I wrestle with the nagging doubt that I am overdoing it...?
Thanks for the tip about the adams apple Wayne. I'll have to give it a try.
Good stuff all around!
