Also depends on your genes. If you're of African or Asian ethnicity, then there's a higher chance of getting keloid scars. These are the scars that are bumpy or raised from the skin.

My Chinese genes (but not the Irish ones!) mean I scar quite badly and get some keloid scarring (one nick in particular I can tell is not going for at least a year or more, probably). Some Africans suffer from chronic keloid scarring.

So I'm verrrrrry careful on the whole!
