Thanked: 2My first straight is in the mail!
Well I finally went and did it, after 2 years of shaving with a DE blade I ordered my first straight from whipped dog! A sight unseen and a poor mans strop, it should be here by next Wednesday. I am very excited and hopeful that I don't totally screw it up with my poor stropping skills. Wanted to share it all with you and ask for any advice on dealing with my first real straight.
Thanks!

Thanked: 10Way to go. Yeah I am new too, been using the straight a week and cut myself good and proper on my first try but it's comming together quickly. Don't pull a me and heed the info on here. Lots of good stuff for one who is willing to pay a little attention. Best of luck

Congrats on the purchase. Best advice is go slow. Take it bit by bit and fall back on the DE if uncomfortable. It will all come together soon enough. Good luck
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 2
I recently received the razor in the mail, it looks great. I had my first shave with it and it wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be but I think I need to work on my technique and my skin stretching. My only problem so far is that I can't quite figure out how much stropping is enough, is there a way other than shaving with it to have a good idea of when it has been stropped enough?
