Hi and welcome. The best suggestion I could give is to get your razor pro honed. Once you know how it should be you know what to aim for when doing it yourself. You could be robbing yourself of the experience and not knowing it. Good luck

Thanked: 0I also have a 12000 micro mesh belt, that I had totally forgotten about. All of the abrasives for my sharpener are made by Norton.

It is handy to have all the gear to sharpen knives and to try and utilize that for honing razors. You have shaved with the end result of using that equipment but I do think getting that razor honed by a pro razor honer would give you an idea of where your method and the traditional method of razor honing line up. It just might be worth it to find out. I hone my own the traditional way and shave with the edges I get but I would not say the edges are at the same level as a pro honed razor.

Thanked: 0I agree totally. I really want another m&g toledo blade that I can have professionally honed, so that I can compare from one day to the next, or right side vs left side of face with as close as possible to identical razors. That will really help me see where I lack.
