Thanked: 0Supplies, etc.
I was in Costco today and found 24 large (16 x 16) quality washcloths for under $10. I liked the idea (from Straight Razor Designs) of using a washcloth during the shaving process.
I am almost 73 and used a straight razor shaver until the early 60s when the humidity of Udorn, Thailand, lack or proper care, etc., caused me to give it up.
Now that I have two razors and am using them, I relish the experience.

Welcome to SRP! i use a wash cloth to set my razor on while lathering and for the final clean up. Sound like a good deal you've found.

PiperNeil,
Using a wash cloth such as you purchased is convenient, and it also prevents accidentally dinging the blade against the faucet. You made a good choice. I rinse the blade at the beginning and the end of each pass, using the wash cloth for wiping during the pass. At the end of the shave, of course, the blade is rinsed thoroughly, dried, stropped 15/15 strokes and oiled.
By the way, welcome to Straight Razor Place.

Welcome back to an older but better way of shaving. I hope that Gerrit and his lovely wife will once again be hosting a meet up in Yakima this coming spring. All of the meets are a great time with lots of comradeship and sharing of knowledge and I would imagine that you have a lot of knowledge to share.
Once again WelcomeOur house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.
