    Default My First Straight Razor

Here she is, found this beauty at a yard sale for 5bucks. Frederick Reynolds barbers notch. Looks like a wedge. This thing definitely needs some tlc...tarnish removed, scales replaced. Thought it was a great find though! I will update this thread with restoration pics as they come. Took the best pictures possible with what I have. Does anyone have positive experiences with Frederick Reynolds Wedges? thanks

They are great razors - but as pixelfixed notes - it's best to see if you can set the bevel before you spend hours and $$ in to restoring it. Nothing worse than investing time and resources in to something that is going to end up as a shadow box display only curio...

But you are on the way to wining the award for $5 find of the week...good luck.

I had one that looked like that , by the time good metal was found it was getting narrow,, hope you have luck with that, do as suggested and see if it will take an edge before investing any time in it. Tc

I sure hope it can be saved. That is a cool blade for a first razor.

Definitely follow pixelfixed advise on seeing if it will set a bevel first. You will be able to find out how to hone in the Library & there's plenty of information there for you to read & learn. Good luck on your first treasure!

Are you finding these in at antique shops? I keep hearing people finding DE and SR's on the cheap but I have never seen either. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
