    Default bad idea!

Ok so I was holding a hair and slicing with the razor to see the sharpness. I guess it was just a matter of time before I cut the tip of my finger off!
    Lesson learned.

Another reason against the Hanging Hair test !!! You don't need to whack at it like a Samurai Sword! But it's going to be alright , you will probably not do that again ,, just use the shave test to see if it's ready Oh by the way is it shave ready ? Good luck. Tc

I think it's pretty close to shave ready. the funny thing was I got it for the scales. It started off so rusted that the hollow part of the blade crumbled off with little pressure. I was just running some tests to try figure a few things out. I really get uncomfortable with blood. I think I'll lie down now.

Ouch! Too bad the picture is of your bandaged finger, that could have been a stellar entry in the "Cut of the Day" thread. hope you heal soon.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

You're not the first, and probably not the last. Like Tc said, you will probably not do that again. A test I found here, and use, is to sweep my arm hair up, and try to cut hair about an inch or so above my arm, if it is ready, you should be popping hairs, no fingers involved.

Somehow I managed to gash arm one time doing that with a carving knife.

I posted a pic of the wound in the cut of the day. You can see where it went right through the bail and everything. I thought it would be a bit much to post just randomly on here.

Yup - if you can, "tree-top" your arm hairs, you've got a great edge...and no contact with any body parts.
