I little advice for lapping with the DMT. Sharpen a couple of knives with it before you lap the Naniwa. New DMTs can have high spots that can put deep scratches in a soft Naniwa. Sharpening a couple of knives will knock the high spots off. Some say you don't have to soak Naniwas but I disagree. They swell slightly in the center and will stabilize after soaking for a few minutes.

Or, on the DMT, use the shaft of a screwdriver to rub across it. You're trying to knock off/smooth out any high standing diamond granules that might scratch your hones. If I were using a knife to do that It use the back of a very straight knife.

Sounds good. I will first take a screwdriver to it and then I will sharpen some kitchen knives with it (we have some that need to be done).

This is a great online community! Thanks!
