Oh my... The riddle of steel.
Draw is all about personal preference and does not effect the performance of the strop on the leather. RezDog

Hey I have one of those Double Duck Shorties . Great razor. Love mine - but its not the rounded point we normally recommend to noobs. In fact, if its like mine, its a pretty aggressive square.
That's not a bad thing - in some cases it's a boon. But being I usually shave with round points, I did soften the tip a bit as I found I kept nicking myself.
Just to be clear, you by no means have to do that - but you might want to consider asking the dude who's honing it for you if indeed it is a square point like mine, to soften the tip a bit for you to ease you into the blade.
Maybe some others can pipe in and tell me/you if that is indeed something they would recommend, or if I am just being a bit over the top .
Congrats by the way - you're going to love the razor - I love shorties! And I love my Duck .David

Thanked: 4827I always soften the point on my square razors. I don't need or want a spike. I would have it hone that way just as a matter of preference.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

I prefere a square tip. The spike is fine when needed. Just watch under your ears
