Nother vote for WhippedDog. I have bought a couple razors from him and have been very happy with them.

That is a good choice for your needs at this point. Coming from SRD gives you a free honing when you need it. They will get your order to you quickly. Enjoy.

Why SR so cheap on this site? https://thesuperiorshave.com/straight_razors.html

Anyone know the deal with them?

They are great. They operate this site. They are honest and don't screw you. I would not go spike point if I were you. Spike = pointy and sharp. Was not the R. Aust a round or spanish point, which is easier to handle as a new shaver? Also, I hate to disagree with anyone (prior poster) but Thiers Issard doesn't seem to be delivering the same quality as R. Aust right now and your price is for a kit, not a razor.

    Good point about the kit.

I have not heard about qc issues with TI however.

Sorry the link didn't show up. I was talking about superior shave. They have such cheap prices. Is it legit or stick with SRD?

Thanks bro. I did not realize that it was the point of the razor. I thought the fancy factor was for the name. I do like that gold blade. I seen a few black blade (carbon steel I believe) that look sharp. Any suggestions on that? The more I sit and look the more questions I have and more choices I like.

The link showed up for me. I'm with Haroldg48, I'd go with the Ralph Aust. It is the only Aust on the Straight Razor & Strop Sets. The very first razor!
