    Default Left-handed shaving

    Hello there,

I have seen some threads in this forum about the differences of left-handed shaving. Almost all answers are stating that there is no difference since the razors (except Japanese) are symmetrical.

But when I examine, most of the razors have a curvature on the blade, hence not symmetrical. When you hold them with right hand, and shave your right cheek, the side of the blade without the logo comes to contact with your cheek. But when you hold the blade with left hand and shave your left cheek, the side with the logo comes in contact with the cheek. I didnt try it yet but will it be a problem?

Most of my razors have "curved" or somewhat hollowed sides, but they are symmetrical.

Except kamisori or microtome, all razors are ground the same on both sides.

Welcome to SRP! So you have not actually shaved yet and have sighted down the spine of the razor and seen that the blade is not perpendicular to the spine? Or, are you doing a dry run by holding the blade up to your cheeks and trying for the correct angle for shaving with a straight razor? I believe you might be overthinking yo and I advise you to lather up and have at it yo. The nifty thing about the straight razor is that, being your friend, it teaches you fairly quickly not to make gross errors in shaving angle. Good Luck!

There is a lefties group here, I have looked at it, I can however tell you that as a lefty my razors work the same as everyone else's. I also shave using the blade in either hand, and it is my theory that this process is easier for lefties, because our right handed society forces us to use our non dominant hand far more often than the flip side. I agree with both of the previous posts in that your question is a little confusing and you are over thinking this. Use the force!

I am also a lefty. I shave with both hands as well. I have never had an issue with any razor brand that I use or have used.

You will have to learn the correct angle for comfort on any razor.
