Thread: horrible first straight razor shave experience

I just received it in the mail. Wow that is a lot of blades. I compared the gold seal versus the gold dollar and I must say yours is way sharper. i guess i am not as good as honing as i thought. I thought the gold dollar was a hair thin blade, but the gold seal is much thinner. It also makes quite a different sound on the strop. I am assuming these are qualities to look for in a decent razor? I haven't yet tried shaving with either, but will do.

I just shaved with the gold seal. What a difference. This is the first time i didnt have to use a styptic pencil at all. I can definitely tell the difference. I can go against the grain without any problem. Before it would tug and cut. This just sliced through no problem. Wow. I had so much fun i was over shaving (if there is such a thing). Thank you.
