Only problem with that is you won't know if itS really shave ready because you don't even know how to shave yet. Start with an edge that's right to start with ., and Gold Dollars are crap, shoots , take up airport coppers offer , that way if it can be done you will have something to learn with ,, Or don't , and never know what sharp is. Kayl is actually the son I mentioned that will spend the next year honing this Gold Dollar until it's either shave ready or he has honed it down to a handsome toothpick. Fortunately I have a shave ready Dovo and Hornet that we can use as a good standard of what shave ready feels like. So I +1 his zeal. We're both picking up some very good information and experience.

Thanked: 0So I set the bevel on my gold dollar, honed it using the pyramid method and finished it off with a good stropping. I shaved a small part of my neck using the professionally honed razor and the other side using my Gold Dollar razor. Although the professionally honed razor felt slightly sharper the Gold Dollar wasn't to far off from being on the same level as the professionally honed razor. As for me I am pleased with myself, I was able to get a razor to shave readiness. But I must give credit where credit is due, thank you Airportcopper for letting go me know how to go about getting the job done.

Good job!
It's difficult to approach the level of honing of someone that does it everyday.
It is also difficult not to enjoy your own honing more because, after all; you did it.Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski
